The Mattacola Law Firm sponsored a morning seminar on Employee Handbooks. A dozen Human Resource professionals, company executives and counsel gathered to hear Greg deliver some handbook essentials along with what should not be included in a company handbook. That, combined with the great coffee and baked goods, made it a very enjoyable morning for all. This was the first of many informal employment law seminars which will be delivered throughout the Mohawk Valley at revolving locations. Said Greg "It's great to meet with company representatives in this relaxed and informal environment. They are encouraged to ask questions and it's from those questions that I learn as well. Everyone walks away with useful information. We will definitely do more of these."
On April 2nd, I had the pleasure of addressing the Genesis Young Professionals Group on the employment law subjects of “employment-at-will” and sexual harassment. The talk took place at the Fort Schuyler Club and it was an enjoyable evening. With a roaring fire and the historical beauty of the Fort Schuyler Club all around us, we delved into these two topics and I was able to clear up many of the common misconceptions. I even staged a fake firing of my marketing guru Michelle McCarrick Truett for being a Yankee fan – to exhibit the fickle nature of the employment-at-will doctrine.
